There was a local gear swapmeet last Saturday. I wound up getting a screaming deal on this somewhat non-functional RD-8.

Turns out, the 15 volt power supply provided with it resulted in the no output condition at main out and headphones, and when supplied a proper 18 volts (or even 17.82 volts) everything came around.

Odd feature, that. It's documented enough that even the product splash page on sweetwater calls it out. I'm guessing it has to do with an onboard SMPS not coming online until a threshold voltage is reached, and the subsequent stage deadheads the signal (direct outs always worked). Anyway, that's my new toy. A Behringer, I guess I can kiss my hand built or "vintage" snobbery cred goodbye. hahaha
When in doubt, add resistance.

One of my field agents hipped me to the existence of this piece of mid-century art at a local materials re-use store. I'm $20 lighter now.

It's essentially gutted, with a power supply to light the LEDs.

Scooped the GM-70 that had been sitting neglected on craigslist for the past couple months.

I drove up to PDX today to collect some GSI modules saved from scrapping, and wound up with a preamp and broken filter in the process.

As in weight and space? Easy, hahaha.

I think original price would be another staggering metric. Most of the interesting stuff I own, I own because it's malfunctioning and/or decommissioned. I'm a scavenger with inclinations to repair or revive, that puts me in the path. Actual outlay of cash on my part is generally small, as I am rather money poor.

Yes, yesterday I hauled home all just pictured rack modules (the Tektronix pre, the four modular Grason Stadler Co. rack units, and the Spectrum analog filter) plus racked PSU for the GSC stuff, another rack PSU for whatever I like - (it, like the GSC is a +/- 12 volt PSU from the PNP era so the negative rail is the heavy duty one), a 600 ohm attenuator which looks a lot like the guts of an HP350 strapped to a 2U rack plate, a Tektronix 114 pulse generator (prototype, SN #B 09) in non-functioning condition, a 7000 series o-scope plugin, a Panasonic 6 input 1 output video switcher, and a video signal generator.

Some of the items are on a repair and return basis, so long as the repair value is below a certain threshold (specifically the Spectrum analog filter and the Tek 114).
When in doubt, add resistance.

What rack format are these in? It seems like a lot of your gear has more in common with scientific test equipment than things commonly found on a euro rack rig, for example.
