Again with another Defektro Noise Army device.

Antenna are for the four theremins this unit sports. The audio tape sound pad is played with a tape deck head mounted in the disk. Additional springs rounds it out nicely.

Anyone here do much experimenting with interference noise caused by various devices held up to and against guitar and bass pickups? I was watching a Simon the Magpie video about using a hand mixer on a bass and they made some nice crumbling harsh noise with just a fuzz and a dl-4 by waving the running mixer with no attachment over the pickups. I myself have played around with an electric toothbrush (accidental interference, I wanted to make it vibrate the string so I could use it like a shitty Ebow) on a recording, as well as holding a mobile phone over the pickups, which is pretty glitchy and would probably decimate with some good fuzz and octaves. I'd be interested to hear what anyone else has gotten out of this field, or if it remains something to be explored more.

I have strapped an old Oster Stimulax vibrator to the lower horn of my guitar and when activated it creates a ton of electrical hash noise in addition to vibrating all of the strings.

Vibrators are generally noise gold!
I saw Mark Browne perform last year with a bag full of mini vibrators forming a drone orchestra inside an upturned gong. Pure bliss

Look at ebow's they've been around a long time and are fun to play with.

Different electrical devices will have different sounds based on the motors they have and if they are engaged.

I have used a giant stainless steel 1950s vibrator on guitar and springs to various effect...worked better at home. live it didn't come across how I wanted. Using it on a 55gal metal drum sounds great!

Tiny cheap battery powered hand mixers for food are fun...another thing to look for at thrift stores.

Note on thrift stores...take batteries with you!

Also used the old dangerous metal bladed fan in that video on my guitar but the motor causes too much unwanted noise.

Again the fan on the large spring in metal milk crate sounded amazing at home but live it pretty much failed.

Did I post the music boxes on guitar yet?
They also affect the pick ups and I'm not sure why???

So maybe try some non electric wind up type devices on guitar and see what happens.
