Re: Noise lair, synth dungeon, bedroom, shop, lab, etc.
I've made some progress on moving shit into storage so I actually have room in my lair to make noise again. Looking forward to rearranging things a bit.
I've been meticulously labeling the boxes going into storage and taking pictures of the contents so I can find shit later.
Here's my first tape releases from 87-93ish. Only one of the tape inserts was made with the aid of a computer.. everything else was cut and paste with scissors and glue and a copier

Re: Noise lair, synth dungeon, bedroom, shop, lab, etc.
Made more progress on making my lair usable for noise. I've got my first online gig and gig of any kind since 2019 coming up in April so I need to get setup before then to record my set.
Although this is not really a factor the biggest pain is going to be moving all the shit I have in storage on the other side of valley closer to where I used to live to the place that's just around the corner. Hopefully I'll beable to purge a few things in the process but I'm terrible at doing that.

Re: Noise lair, synth dungeon, bedroom, shop, lab, etc.
In addition to adding another synth to the pile, I have been fighting with mice. So I pulled everything out of two areas and lined the floor to wall joint with bent steel flashing, and filled two racks with the backs on so nothing can get in (these are just storage).
While I was in there, I ousted the fucking huge and crotchety Ashly 16 (minus three, if memory serves) mixer, to slap a 2U rack line mixer in for the synth closet.
Re-aligned some electrical, and after bouncing back and forth and stretching in some odd angles I have a much more user friendly set-up which I expect will result in some work being done - or at least equipment being enjoyed.

My dorm room setup, since I'm back in school after like three weeks going from home:
Even if you took a few years and learned all the chords you'd still have a limited number of options. If you ignore the chords your options are infinite and you can master guitar playing in one day. - David Fair

It's a Mosky Red Fox I bought off of AliExpress. I hated the front of it the way it was with the tiny red letters on black background, so I just made up a better one and spray glued it to the top. So much better now. I use in the effects loop on my mixer.alright man i have to know

Re: Noise lair, synth dungeon, bedroom, shop, lab, etc.
That has recently turned into this:
I found it unproductive to essentially stand in between the speakers while working, and having to move *behind* them in order to adjust synths/etc was just stupid.
So the speakers had to go mobile. This has the added benefit of demanding I keep the space at least somewhat tidy so I can re-orient them according to task.
The west wall is fairly sparse, with recording interface and some racked grass atop rack "storage" (the rolling double-wide table rack at bottom of frame is 100% stuffed both front and back due to mice, so no power lives there).
East wall is still an unconnected mess/storage. But with more functionality at the core I expect tendrils to reach over soon enough.
