Finally, after wanting this for at least a few years now, I saved up for Omnisphere 2. I've barely scratched the surface so far, but there are a lot of weird and cool instruments in it. The guitars are also really nice. The synth layering and effects chains are really easy to understand and use. I can't wait to get more into the granular synth engine that this thing has too

Not a team player. Doesn't take unsolicited advice. Otherwise charming...

Classic. I have an Ensoniq EPS 16+. Both run off of floppies, though I don't know if they're interchangeable. I also haven't found a way yet to format a new floppy so that the EPS can actually read it

Do the EPS use DD or HD floppies? DD are the far more rare type (my S900 was paired with that format) and even a working drive can have trouble when fed HD media. I think the machine itself should be able to format a floppy, if the media is correct and if the old drive is operational. That last if might be a big one.. no great loss if the drive is dysfunctional, since emulators that save on USB media are so commonplace now.
When in doubt, add resistance.

They use DD. Now that you mention it, maybe that's been my problem since I've tried with HD as well. I have a USB floppy drive that I was also trying for a bit, but was reading somewhere that there are specific obsolete drivers that the floppy drive needs to write to the old format. Which doesn't make a lot of sense when I think about it. I have some more experimenting to do now.

Also, those USB emulators look awesome. I've thought about getting one, but wouldn't want to compromise the keyboard if it didn't work out for whatever reason. Though this guy's endorsement of the N-Drive is just great:

$250 for an MG1 is a screaming deal these days.

That phone is cool too, does it need a battery supply or does it self generate?

These are trivia nights auction finds and I do harass him to post here as he is very knowledgeable about gear and old electronics.
(When I get my finances in order I'm gonna be going to auctions with him)
I'm not sure what the phone is capable of but it was only a few dollars!
Whenever I get my basement set up there will be more info and video examples!
