How hard is it......

To specifically state something as obvious as the power output in watts?

Watts have never been a good benchmark. They do provide a peak SPL, though without a frequency plot that number was not very informative.

I have amplifiers that are rated into kW territory, most of the use is limited to the all important one watt region, but they can push levels... just not ten times the level of a 100 watt amp.

I would guess that JBL is avoiding the use of the watt measurement because the wattage produced is low, and low numbers don't sell units. With an SPL rating and a battery charge lifespan they give enough functional building blocks to at least get someone to test drive the unit, which may perform admirably given the design limitations.

I mean, I too prefer using power hungry stuff, but sometimes that's a challenge in a remote location or during power outs etc.
When in doubt, add resistance.
