What I build and why.

I make music since I was 6 years old. I play clarinet and saxophone in several local wind bands. I got all the tonal and melodic music I'll ever need. So I think it's no use for me to invest hard work in learning to play keyboards (well, I got keyboards, but I can't play them). This would simply last too long until I get results.

So

I don't intend to make melodic or tonal music with my synths. I want them to be something completely different, just beeps and blips and fart noises.
(Hence no need on tuning and calibrating ...)

I'm building a "real" modular synth, you can see it on the panorama picture.

The Lunetta is my second synth. Cheaply built, lo-fi sound.

I' want to do as much DIY as possible. I don't buy kits, readymade PCBs oder panelwork. It's all on the level I can do myself. Ok, I don't melt sand to get silicon for the semiconductors ....

Sort of in similar mindset as you..
started reading/playing music at 4-5... multi-instruments... ear training...
(that usually causes some conflicts with people who create noise & hate anything close to music or structure)
so unlike many in "noise" my internal sequencer is fully functional...
Grew up obsessed with BBC radiophonic workshop and on the dark side of the moon....
wondering exactly how they made those sounds...
mesmerized...
personally not into the regimented forced generic conformity of current "HNW" scene...
and tend doing things making fun of it such as using $3 portable TVs or vacuum cleaner...
instead of super expensive Eurorack systems just for HNW...
anyways... back to the breadboard...
appreciating your posts

I'll pile on to the "beautiful work, I'd love to see/hear more" wagon.
When in doubt, add resistance.

Just in case ....

lunettacase.jpg

When we scrapped our Siemens BS2000 mainframe many years ago, I got two tape cases.
Later I modified the hinges so I can take off the lids completely.

Everything fits in the cases. It's powered by a USB power supply or a power pack. There's also a small USB speaker. "Lunetta to go"

If that's a single 5 volt rail, what's the current draw? It'd be cool to run it off a solar panel, introducing highly variable power for added layers of chaos. Nice outside on a partly cloudy day sort of set-up.
When in doubt, add resistance.

Yes, specs for 4000ers are 3v to 18v.

Going to measure the current tomorrow.
