First time I've ever seen this method of speaker wiring.
The Celestions are 16 ohm and the Eminence are 8 ohm.
Do the math.

Re: Do the math.
Sure why not .. as long as its wired correctly that should work?Indeterminacy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 2:24 am First time I've ever seen this method of speaker wiring.

Personally I'd want them all be same ohm rating but not for any reason I can think of besides consistency

Re: Do the math.
Is that a series string of two 16 ohm speakers in parallel with a series string of two 8 ohm speakers?
Comes out to around 11 ohms nominal, but fuck equal distribution in the ear!
How does it sound?

My meter is off for factory service and damned if I can find my old VOM.crochambeau wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:27 am Is that a series string of two 16 ohm speakers in parallel with a series string of two 8 ohm speakers?

As for wired correctly, technically it isn't wrong. But way far far away from correct.
Correctly would be 4 speakers @ 16 ohm parallel wired for a 4 ohm load the amp would like to see.
A 134 in good fit and trim sounds amazing. If you want a very clean sound. It can get concussively loud clean. 4 x 10" open back design sounds great.
Pat Metheny used 2 in stereo with 2 Lexicon Prime Times. His early work on ECM is THE sound.
Double jacking and channel ganging will bring on some dirt.
The load fuckery, speaker application and mis-match are pure shit tier sounding in this amp. No omph or definition.
It has to be loud, clean and clear. With these speakers the amp is not doing what it can do.
Plugged the OG 10"s in the other 134 on hand and this one blossomed. I can't wait to hear it pushing my 2x12" EV cabinet.
Volume is a fantastic thing,

Re: Do the math.
If it's supposed to drive a 4 ohm load, maybe parallel the pair of 16, and parallel THAT eight ohms with the two eight ohm drivers still in series string? I think that reaps a 5.3 ohm load (on paper, we all know actual speakers are all over the place).
But you're still working against unknown efficiency versus portion of the load issues, compounded by frequency curves.
No harm in juggling some wires, so long as you're maintaining four ohms or better from the amps POV.
