Re: Tools and Devices
A good friend offloaded a Nikon 6CT2 optical comparator, a couple Christian Becker AB2 balance scales, and misc stuff like a small XY table, pneumatic valves, etc. on me yesterday.
Still mulling over possibilities, as I don't think the original applications hold much relevance to me now. I might retain the comparator in original form as a focused optical field that could feed LDR and other light sensitive semiconductors... my initial take was that the screen could easily take a 12 inch speaker.

Re: Tools and Devices
Today I collected my new 24 inch box/pan brake which will make metal working more delightful than it was with my 12 inch pinch brake.

Really nice. Kind of just slightly edges out my bit of angle iron clamped to the edge of my bench with vice grips in terms of utility.

Re: Tools and Devices
I'm delighted.
My previous tool for this was one of those 3 in 1 pinch brake, slip roller, shear jobbies.
My enclosure sizes range up to 1.5 inch/38 mm, and the pinch brake would hit interference on the final folds, resulting in this:
I then finished the folds using wooden tools as pictured, sometimes clamping in a vise open face up and nudging the bend into a less rounded corner with a hammer and chisel.
In addition to the labor intensive aspects of squaring up the box I would always have these pinch lines from material riding in the lower jaw of the pinch brake.
.
Those would typically vanish in the patina process, but still..
Here's the same box, finished up with the new brake:
I realize there is a chatter mark on that, it is due to the apron angle being misaligned, which is something I intend on fixing today.

In case anyone needs a reference of a few sounds
you can get with an angle grinder.
