listening to this video for the third time. really effective imho. I think I like how the drones are kinda boring; not all music has to exist and be exciting on the surface.
Chaplin movies are boring if you cannot follow the humour, and not all surprises are good. I don't want to get all pseudo-critical about it, if only because I haven't got much of an idea what they're doing. but if you can tell someone has a talent at the guitar from you yourself holding a guitar, then I don't see why you can't connect emotionally with something you do not understand the creative decisions - maybe only some of the processes - involved.
so If I decide to make noise with a trombone, that's arguably less important to what I am actually doing with the trombone
