Free Photo/Image Hosting Options
Title says it.
The Photobucket cash grab clusterfuck is the best example of fucking up all manner of forum posts.
No cloud bullshit.
I need a parking space for images while I migrate them to my own site for forum uploads.

Well you can upload attachments here.. in fact you can copy and paste an image directly into the post and it'll upload automatically.Indeterminacy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 5:51 am Title says it.

Re: Free Photo/Image Hosting Options
Any site that offers to host anything is technically a "cloud". You throw your bits up in the air and they stick somewhere to be retrieved or referenced later on...
I moved over to imgur.com. My experience has been positive, though it plays nice with one browser and not another (specifically, I stay logged in and can use it normally with Chrome, but Firefox likes to log me out)
Also, when I upload say three images at once, only the first image registers in my main library page: https://imgur.com/user/crochambeau/posts you can see if there are additional images by the number at upper right of the thumbnail. Just something to consider if you're on a bulk upload spree..

Fuck Photobucket!
Photobucket announced a change to its Terms of Service on June 26, 2017, requiring a US$399 per year subscription fee for those who want to hotlink images from Photobucket's servers to display on other sites, a service it had previously offered free. This change resulted in vast numbers of photos online being replaced with a graphic advising users to upgrade their account. Photobucket has received extensive criticism in response, with many charging the company with "blackmail" or "extortion", and destroying the design of many websites. In March 2018, under the guidance of new CEO Ted Loenard, plans initially ranging from US$1.99 to US$8.99 monthly based on storage size replaced the flat-rate model. Prices later jumped to a range from US$4.48 to US$11.48 monthly for those same usage increments
trusting 3rd party image hosting with forum or any web project is bad idea...

Re: Free Photo/Image Hosting Options
I know you said no cloud bullshit, but Amazon AWS has a Free Usage Tier where you can host files for free for a year. Might be enough to get going while you have another solution set up.
Ultimately, if you want to host anything for a guaranteed time long-term, you'll have to do it yourself. Thankfully, it doesn't cost much. I've been paying for shared hosting for a decade in case I need it and can easily hotlink images off of that. I pay about $5/month for it, though that also comes with email, the control panel, a database, etc.

You keep saying that, but how can we trust that you're not one of those cloud people?

Well I can't promise that your images will be available forever but I've had this host since 2005 or something and pay for the hosting 5 years at a time so...
