Interzona Press-Release

Hardworking
Interzona - noise/industrial act formed by Jean Souza (Suzana´s Bauten) for exploring the most extreme antimusic. His main influences are beat literature, abstract art, Dada, Surrealism and others, with big names as Burroughs, Modrian and Kandinsky. Musically near of japanoise mindmasters as Merzbow, Hijokaidan, Hatanahashi, C.C.C.C, Violent Onsen Geisha and noise rock monsters as Swans, Big Black, Sonic Violence, without forgetting old-school industrial, free jazz, extreme metal, extreme punk and all the underground scene that celebrates noisiest sound violence. Cyberpunk, obscure literature and hard sci-fi inspire Interzona, which name is taken from Naked Lunch. Philip K. Dick, Ignácio de Loyola Brandão and William Gibson are recurring because they paints an empty and hopeless world, without any chance of getting better days. Field recording, extensive and not orthodox use of Digital Audio Workstation for deconstructing and processing textures from our real world into a true do-it-yourself attitude.

No lack of harshness here: as expected, Carne Industrial is just as loud and abrasive as the two or three other Interzona albums I've heard. This by itself does not a good noise album make, however. There’s sudden and frequent drops in volume throughout the album, some of them improvised to be rhythmic, that totally kill the momentum of otherwise good tracks. I’d also like to see [much] more variation in the speed of the loops(?) used for flavor; they’re essentially all one speed here, which gets boring and repetitive real quick. These issues should be fairly easy to address and improve upon, however. I’d like to compliment Interzona particularly on the somewhat disorientating binaural(?) stereo feedback in the intro to track 3: intense!
