moon musiq netlabel

Post by Pigswill »

A few months ago, I started a netlabel called moon musiq to put out work by musicians who hang out on ThisMachineKillsMusic's Discord server. The musicians who hang out on there are really creative and talented and are into dark ambient/noise/industrial/experimental/electronic-type stuff. It's been really exciting to see and hear the work that they submit, both for experienced artists and for ones who haven't released anything before. I think it's worth sharing, hence the label and this post.

All of the releases we make are pay what you want, with any and all proceeds going directly to Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS), an organization that helps get victims of sex trafficking out of dangerous situations.

We have a couple of releases so far. I'll include some codes for each in case anyone wants to add copies to their collections (I've got tons of these, so don't hesitate):

Are You Shivering?
The theme for this was simply "sleep". This is also the first time that Fruit Machine, Raven of the Forest, and stationarywithlittlepicturesofmintygreencicadasonthem have published any of their music.

Urban Graves for Feral Souls
The theme for this was "witches, witchcraft, and magick". KrəSH Ambien made an entire ambient vocal track in a single take that's quite nice. Eyerolls also has a few fantastic tracks, but Eaten by a Piano was inspired by the infamous scene from the 1977 movie Hausu where the girl gets devoured in the soundboard

Thank you. I rarely do vocals, but I'm satisfied with the result. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the comp!

Great sounds, not sure the Dienazis track fitted the digital dream slumber description but I'll take it :P

Also thanks for the introduction to Scum Alice - what a massive back catalogue! Diving in now

Yeah, a couple of entries have taken some very loose interpretations of the themes. We're letting artists pursue whatever they're feeling over keeping strictly to a theme to see how things go as we start out. (Though we also could have some artists who dream aggressively)

Scum Alice has a huge amount of great output. You're in for a great time!

Happy Thanksgiving! We apparently raised enough to send someone in need to vocational training! Thank you to everyone who has supported our releases so far! :megaman:

A couple of other changes we've made:
We now have the list of artists and links to their stuff on the site itself
We also have a way to add our music to your Bandcamp collection for free without needing a code

I liked the stylistic echoes, but didn't know what to make of the comp I listened to (latest)
