So to recap:
We don't yet have a vaccine for covid
The World Health Organisation says there's no evidence that recovering from infection guarantees immunity.

Experts say in order for herd immunity to work 70 to 80 percent if the population has to be immune either through prior exposure or vaccine in order to protect the minority who are immune from infection. Add to that the fact that testing numbers are low and the accuracy of the tests is questionable.

There's the back and forth about it being like the flu.. well if the flu kills more people then how is it that every year hospitals are not overflowing with with flu patients? Is it because those deaths tools are for the entire year rather than a few months of covid deaths? Maybe once the most vulnerable has died off it won't be an issue.. who wants to knowingly make that gamble if they are in a high risk group such as being 60+ or having some kind of pulmonary or other health condition?

According best figures I have found less than 1 million people have recovered from infection. The current world population is 7.8 billion so clearly we are no where near reaching herd immunity even if recovering from infection insured immunity (which apparently it doesn't and we can't even be sure the tests are accurate).

Are there geographical areas that have lower rates of infection? That appears that might be the case .. my guess is that rural areas have a built in social distancing simply because people live further apart. People in those areas gathering socially is still a bad idea.

Should people go back to work? Well as has been happening some jobs are necessary. Given the circumstances anybody working who comes into contact with other people need to wear PPE and wash their hands frequently etc.

When corporations like Tyson complain that too many of their workers have gotten sick for them to keep their factories open its probably because they did not do enough to prevent them from getting sick. Or maybe the states those factories are in did not ask the general population to stay home.

I'm fortunate that I can work from home and live in an area where the governor and mayor are taking this seriously. I'm fine with staying at home until this blows over and think that people out of work because they can't work from home should get financial help from their government more so than the corporations should get bailed out.

Simple as that.
That's the solution.
Maybe to some degree but I'm under impression that these viruses that jump from animal to human are basically because of human proximity to animals so I don't know if doing everything locally is always a solution.

But yea when everything is too centralized then it's too easy for it to get knocked out by a singke localized problem.

"If possible"...sure certain name brands will be manufactured only at key plants.
Do we need localized Doritos production?
Of course not.

Slaughter houses are nasty nasty polluting type businesses...they have no choice about creating massive amounts of offal waste when slaughtering animals.
Some centralization is good as we don't need half ass small town slaughter houses all over the place making a mess.

Honestly I don't know dizzy

Please watch last nights 60 minutes and pay attention when they show californias C19 command center..NO MASKS OR GLOVES...in a confined close quarters room.
They don't seem to be taking it too seriously there at the command center.

I was also shocked that NORAD/Cheyenne Mountain was somehow not prepared for a germ warfare situation.
If there was a real nuclear exchange chemical and bio weapons would be part of that...they weren't prepared...really?
Fuck.

Was just out to town...hair salons are packed. Saw a few food deliveries to local restaurants so that means they are gonna open up soon.
Both grocery stores are busy busy.

Apparently the cops had to run people off from Ha Ha Tonka state park yesterday since the out of towners swamped it.

That is surprising and pretty much contrary to how they are telling people to operate. BTW gloves are not mandatory for going out in public.

Anyway.. at least unlike some places they aren't just encouraging people to do whatever and let's see what happens.

There's a clip here with military personal some of which are wearing masks

Talked to my boss.
We are scheduled to open the 4th but the governor will make an announcement today so maybe the 13th...either way it will take us a week to prepare to reopen.

My problem/worry is not the 70 or so regulars we get each day but these suburban city people that are making an effort to express thier "liberty" coming in.

So ill be going back in the public.

I told Mark MedleyTRIVIA NIGHT to get my noise stuff if I die... skull
Adminrian I told him you should probably have some of it. Master tapes going back to the 1990s and two laptops with recordings and a few 100 or so back up data discs of my sounds.
Also all my books....dont know who wants those.
