Its one of those shit art things that makes the general public think art is all Bullshit.

Its not good...its sad and lame.

Also thinking this is more about who you know and a gallery owner than it is about actual art.

Quite right. And despite "Artists" pointing this out, from Dada, Duchamp's fountain, through to Warhol and Hirst.

xe2x80x9cI can't wait to get into a position to make really bad art and get away with itxe2x80x9d

- Hirst in Julian Stallabrass, High Art Lite: British Art in the 1990s, p.31.

Art, it seems consists in two groups, the first those using it as some political, social agenda, typically in Academic institutions and funded galleries / venues. Highly critical of the establishment / capitalism / the system. (which funds them)

The second, rich artists like Koons / Hirst selling via private galleries and auction houses to the mega rich who see expensive ART, be it rubbish or not as a status symbol. If you don't own a Hirst or Koons as a mere talking point you are passe. Even owing the artists shit.

And the funny thing is, in the main, the former group would love to be in the latter.

I think if I saw all the works in the series in one room or in a book that I would like it.

Its like noise or music or any art culture whatever...I both love and hate it.

Also that fact that most of us can do this or have done it angers me for some odd creepy personal reasons I can't articulate.
Jealous?...hah....maybe.

Well presenting new ideas before their time is the definition of novel.. it takes work and persistence for them to be recognized. Then after that it's not impressive to just make similar works any more.

My dad has started incorporating bits of interesting trash into his work. Hes used pieces of metal hes found pressed into the pavement and even pine tree air fresheners you hang from the rearview mirror. Sometimes the context of the work is more important than the work itself.

If I ever manage to get my studio setup again I plan to do a series of works based on sort of daily mementos collages together using the detritus of my life.

I think the 'autobiographical' is these days significant in art, from say that of minimalism, as it gives unique content / content to the work.
