someone was talking about "mistakes" on NG.
i can usually tell what i did listening back and that makes the noise i wanted on some other level -- i think -- but often i wanted it to it sound like a helicopter and it doesn't sound enough like a helicopter. can you relate?
i tend to hit the right buttons too, no wild flailing...
can you relate to this about "mistakes"

Watch my last live set.
Several parts just fail...my metal cage I was gonna smash around punk kids were grabbing so I yanked it too hard and in plugged it....then my Obnoxicator broke but its designed to break but it never breaks when I'm at home messing it with it for 30m or more. I just went with it.
On material I've released...yeah hearing a really obvious fuck up hurts, makes me feel stupid(once sent about 25 tapes that were only dubbed on one channel...whoops)
Then I see the news or hear or see some media or music that is a hit and that is total fucking shit...its shit...sure it sells...cocaine with flesh eating bacteria in it sells...toothless truck stop blowjobs sell...
I'm just having fun or trying to
I dont feel too bad about any noise mistakes

I usually try to do too many things during a live set.. some of it has to do with the performance aspect.. sometimes I forget to hit record.. usually less is more except for that

Re: can you relate to this about "mistakes"
Seconding this. I myself have played out once ever, but it was a great experience.
I got an invitation to do a set on a Discord server and it didn't even happen. The host canceled the event because he was at the mall too long, got home, then announced about 90 minutes after the original start time that the show was still on. By that point I was already gone. But getting ready for it, it didn't make sense how it would even work since you'd basically play through your computer in a shitty low quality on Discord. Everyone had to be quiet because anyone could interrupt the show with their mics. It's not at all the kind of thing that I look for myself when I go to a noise show. Plus, it's easier to socialize in those situations than it is with the interference of computer interfaces in between you and everyone else. That stuff really filters out the energy that could be generated from a live set.
I can't remember the name of the guy or the project, but way back on MySpace, someone recounted a time where they played a live set. Their stuff was heavily electronic and laptop-driven. During the set, the laptop bluescreened and wouldn't recover, so he basically just jammed on whatever he could while singing or screaming into a mic. Completely improvised. He said that the show itself really sucked. It was just a terrible set. But it was a good and fun experience for him because it made him have to figure out how to keep his set going without completely letting down the audience. I wish I was able to see that live.
For mistakes themselves, though, I wouldn't worry about them too much. The idea of perfection is flawed anyways. Just follow the sound and have a backup plan in case your setup explodes (unintentionally).
