why learn to mix records if a computer can do it why send out mail art when there is the internet why dub cassettes when you can share links why buy analog gear why DIY at all etc. why? are you living in a different era, trying to be edgy, or just enjoying the physicality of things??

Conceptually I get some of what hes tried explaining to me but it gets too mathematical for my abstract mosaic thinking brain...its more of a Gear section thing

We invented links
We invented software
But we also invented all the things before this. Cassettes, pianos, writing, electricity.
And we will invent everything that follows. Fusion powered hover masturbation boards, parsnip flavoured chewing gum, soundgasms, etc....
It's not being edgy, its wanting to make use of all the things.

The reasons are myriad and dependent on the individual. Their reasons will make no sense to you, and any effort to expound said reasons would be a waste of energy for both parties.

I'm going to guess that he's had some sort of 'spiritual revelation', and I would even go so far as to suggest he's been reading about kabbalistic models prior to it happening.
