Yes I remember you saying this regarding Jazz, but as a genre its amazingly wide, from traditional New Orleans through to free Jazz, and trad jazz... to big bands, John Zorn is Jazz? I find it difficult to say like or dislike, some jazz I find sublime, other I really don't like.NoiseWiki wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:47 amYes you can do all these things.. like I'm pretty sure many have referred to jazz as being noise to them in the sense that they don't like it. As I have previously mentioned my informal survey of asking people what their least favorite sounds is Jazz is mentioned often and more so than other well known genres of music.

Well that confuses me regarding PE and Industrial, as I thought the use of 'transgression' was merely a shock tactic, like the use of porn , and Nazism. But some seem serious about this kind of thing...NoiseWiki wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:52 amI think back in the troniks days I had tried to float the idea that PE was noise with beats and lyrics.. I seem to recall this meeting some resistance that it wasn't just those elements but the context or the lyrics had to be about transgression or power structures or something.. and that was more import than how it sounded otherwise.
Given the 80s similar things in art, especially The Chapmans, I notice allot of their original child porn is now missing, though not the nutsy stuff, and in their case they are definitely not serious...

And to quote a musician many find annoying .. some might also say the equivalent of its all just rick n roll to me - billy Joel but not in a good wayJLIAT wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:31 am Yes I remember you saying this regarding Jazz, but as a genre its amazingly wide, from traditional New Orleans through to free Jazz, and trad jazz... to big bands, John Zorn is Jazz? Sure it's confusing.. I'm pretty sure one of the members of the forum who rejected my definition was Mikko who even though had put out the work of Nothingistrue tried to play down his actual crimes as the sort any south African could commit.JLIAT wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:36 amWell that confuses me regarding PE and Industrial, as I thought the use of 'transgression' was merely a shock tactic, like the use of porn , and Nazism. Of course Mikko also tried to argue that he was actually amoral because he put out work by artists on polar opposites of the political spectrum but I don't think that's how that actually works. For example AFAIK he never published the polar opposite of the leather bound equivalent to mein kampf.

Re: The Noisecore Thread
Is there even such thing as the polar opposite of the Leather-bound Mein Kampf? For all the use of shock tactics that industrial/power electronics types get up to, it's very rare that anyone's aggressively left-wing despite the equal potential for being off-putting and misanthropic. It's always misogynistic, fascist, etc., never communist, misandrist, racist against whites, and so on. Seems to me like untapped potential. It's at least a more unique gimmick than being yet another guy with pictures of Nazis on his casettes. If anyone's got some examples to the contrary, feel free to post them.NoiseWiki wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 10:06 am Sure it's confusing.. Also, since this is still a noisecore thread, Sissy Spacek are beyond harsh and I love 'em.

Read the S P K manifesto...not the band that made a song about them. The Mysterious Creep wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 7:10 pmIs there even such thing as the polar opposite of the Leather-bound Mein Kampf? Re: The Noisecore Thread
My noisecore band just dropped its first EP last week. Just drums, vocals, and contact mic noise because the guitarist couldn't make it.
