Re: Difficult packaging: the good, the bad and the stupid
Arvo Zylo did this the first time I ordered a Mister Fuckhead tape from him. The dirt was from railroad tracks or something though. The tape was also wrapped in an old bible page, I think.
There's a local guy around named Deliphone who makes some really out there rock stuff that's fun to listen to. I ordered Badger Jam '97. I think he drove to my place and put it in the mailbox because there wasn't any postage on it. But there were a lot of clippings and hand drawn images. The sleeve was hand-made out of paper and marker. Not the worst example, but it's been tricky to categorize with the rest of my collection.
Must Die Records popped up on Troniks a long time ago with a release by We Are Not Cartoons xe2x80x8ecalled Place Mask Over Both Nose And Mouth Breathe Normally. The sleeve is just a loose paper wrapping. Again, not the worst. It's actually pretty creative, but hard to have on a CD shelf
One of the first things I ordered on Bandcamp wasn't noise, but it was some album called Glow City by Water Gun Water Gun Sky Attack. It came with a limited, hand-made USB stick with music on it. Which basically meant that there were some random pieces glued onto the stick and it was partially spray painted pink (not red like this picture makes it look): I should have some better examples around that are eluding me right now. I'll have to post them if I come across any.

One release I have, I can't remember who it's by, is just half a cockroach in a cassette case.

Because a full cockroach would be too reasonable
I once got a CD by Phyllomedusa that had a dead cockroach taped to it. At some point I pressed on the poor thing’s carcass and a bunch of tiny little maggots started crawling out. Needless to say, that one went into the trash bin soon after.

Somebody once sent me their release with some chicken bones in the package. I had already brought the mail in and placed it on kitchen table before I noticed the army of ants spilling out from the package. Ants went everywhere.
I was so pissed.

Not really part of a release, but Daric Raven Sun mailled me a dessicated chicken head in a box, which was packaged inside a larger box full of whole walnuts. Also included were bits of blown glass/scrap and various junk drawer/workshop odds and ends. To date, one of the best packages I've ever gotten in my life.
I should clean that vent some time.
