I agree with the description, and sure the method you give seems to work, I do think that there are others... such as banal turning of a few knobs and using some guitar pedals , rattling junk in a bucket with a contact mike... etc.

Obviously you never played Industrial or have any actual clue of that scene beyond generic obligatory wikipedea reference back for TG whilst saying it is not "Noise"...xe2x80xa6 that eye even had clue who TG was...and tried explaining for them that was "Industrial". Now it is commonplace knowledge... yet it sure the fuck wasn't then... You can google things yet if weren't there that doesn't make what you find from searches comfortable from your home to actually be true or at all actually applicable. Don't worry about it because regardless of what eye say you won't ever actually get any off it.

Back in 1973 The Arts Council of England funded a UK tour of Fluxus Artists called Fluxshoe. "1973 saw COUM ( P-Orridge and Tutti )take part in the Fluxshoe retrospective that toured Britain exhibiting the work of the Fluxus artists; it was organised by David Mayor, who befriended P-Orridge."One of the venues being Falmouth, based at the Art School. From memory the group hung around the college for a week or so, with one performance at Marizion, opposite St Michaels Mount, fairly haphazard, and well... lame... the music was a guy on a sax wading in the sea.. By 73 the whole Dada, Fluxus thing was 'old hat'. Some of the students running a counter event called xe2x80x9cFuckyou.xe2x80x9d

Back in 1972/3 Myself and Dave Manley 'founded' xe2x80x9cHeadboltxe2x80x9d a 'band' influenced by Hawkwind, Slade, John Cage, Cornelius Cardew and Monty Python. Dave played Bass, a handmade spring and pickup made by?? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Davies_(composer)... (he appeared @ Falmouth with The Music Improvisation Company)... also Alan Green, guitar, one i'd repaired, Tom Batty xe2x80x93 vocals, a Jordie called Eliot, Guitar, occasional drummers, I played Synth, (Hawkwind VCO sweeps.. and processed guitar...) on the colleges VCS3. We used a Vox AC60 and the college PA. We played long improvised sessions every Sunday. We made up lyrics, and also used texts from William Burrows and Peter Redgrove, resident poet. We recorded these on the colleges Revoxes. The 'music' was improvised often building to a wall of noise and screaming. We sent a tape to United Artists. Had one public performance, notable for us declining John Tilbury's request to join us, xe2x80x9cInto Tunes!xe2x80x9d and our decision to play until no one was left, after two hours there were two left, one being Lesley, now my wife! Tom wore a gold sequinned cape of his girlfriend's, and on running out of lyrics I told him just to swear. This was the 'proto industrial band' I mentioned.

By 1975 Carter, Christopherson, Cosey and P-Orridge founded a musical band, Throbbing Gristle,

IMO you probably should have stuck with it...
yet doubt it was proto-industrial...
since TG is "Proto-Industrial"
like attempted explaining you don't comprehend that scene...
especially in Chicago/States during the fore-mentioned era...
GenP was a total fuckhead douche and very bad influence on Chicago scene...

I'm not talking about the scene, any scene, - as any scene in the late 70s/ 80s was basically empty in terms of experimental, or avant garde music. Hence the resort to hedonist performances, drugs and such which kind of self destructed the whole thing.

And of course the massive mistake / joke. TG introduced the nutsy motif without any idea other than to provoke outrage, then some thought it was in some way supportive of Nazism. Amazing!

LSD's misuse has a lot to answer for.
