but as a group / social phenomena it's -- imvho -- the essence of individualism under late capital.
a tension between anti conformism and authoritarian impulses.
to the extent that s'adorno could have based his philosophy on it

RUBBISH is fuck you and fuck off. Thats the general idea. Punk no rock. Mockery of pop culture. Self indulgent fuckery. Seriously not serious. Really care don't care. Roil.
Its variable.
These things...
"negative, reactionary, contrarian or argumentative remarks"
... in a performance context.
I'm not a damn sociopath.
Experimentation.
Validating my strangeness. Being able to say that I do something and am part of something that other people aren't a part of or even know about. Doesn't matter if its just 5 or 20 tapes or performing in front of 20 people or 2 people. Its more than 99.9% of the rest of the population does. It makes me feel really good and better than other people as horribly pretentious and just fucked up that sounds.
I'm better than you because I'm worse than you
I scream FUCK to feedback noise and people clap and yell hooray and give me small amounts of money.
The joy of making something.
Hobby.
Like trains or model airplanes.
Noise is my hobby.
This is a form of Comedy.

It's just really fun to make loud noises. I like making people laugh when I do noise, then it's more fun for everyone.

It means something that breaks away from the traps of a hook or a melody or someone selling you a life experience or a feeling via lyrics. Itxe2x80x99s the direct bypassing of all that to get to pure cosmic background radiating noise.

It's a way to fuck and hold hands without touching when two people who feel the same way make noise together.

It's about not getting paid and not getting laid
It's about gettin' stitches and gettin' bitches.
It's about throwin' shade and saying "fuck yo' lemonade!"
It's about pedals.
and contact mics.
and mindlessly banging on a snare drum while screaming without a mic.
It's about smashing acoustic guitars with a hammer and tackling hecklers.

It's a fun way to fuck with chaos with a relatively minimal semblance of control. A great way to make interesting sounds to either listen to on their own or to fuck with further.
Making noise is definitely an outlet for me that's on the opposite end of the music creation spectrum. That other side is much more composed and deliberate, but also slower and can have artificial results. Noise is loud and unpredictable, sometimes obnoxious, but exciting when it clicks.
Listening to other peoples' noise is a good way to understand what those musicians are interested in. Some use it as a narrative and scream over the top of it. Some create loops and samples to form a semblance of structure. Some create walls of wails just to fucking do it. It's great.
