Re: noise that sounds like xiu xiu?
The first song I ever heard from Xiu Xiu was "Chocolate Makes You Happy". It was also the last song I heard, and the very reason I've never heard anything else. I've never even heard the Merzbow collab based on "Chocolate". I disliked the song so much that I completely blocked Xiu Xiu out. I don't remember what the track on Silence = Death sounded like either, and those two things are the limit of my experience with "noisy" Xiu Xiu. It's like a coping mechanism where I unconsciously repress all things Xiu Xiu-related.
But, and I mean this earnestly, please recommend some specific material to listen to that I can compare with what you might like to hear. Maybe my impression of XX was all wrong.

I have no idea who this is.
So I listened to a few things for a few seconds.
Merzbow did stuff with these people..this person...well a mans gotta eat I suppose.
This is a whole different topic that I have conflicting confused views on and about so ill stop about it now...
Its like Gary Numan on day 3 of a cocaine binge wooshy type of sound.
Nostalgia for something that never was.
This is not how the 1980s sounded...not for me anyhow
Pretty sure I have a few tracks that have this wooshy sound but couldn't tell ya where to hear them or what release but I do recall purposely making some things with that shhhhhwuuuuuussssshhhh type sound.
I have no idea about anybody elses noise that would sound like this.
If I even i understand what sound it is you're looking for.

I recall the first time I heard mention of this project as being noise and I went to check them out and was like wut? But if I get a chance to listen to these.zowozon wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 8:20 am2 albums:xc2xbe dead wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 5:50 pm The first song I ever heard from Xiu Xiu was "Chocolate Makes You Happy". Re: noise that sounds like xiu xiu?
If you want a similarly uncomfortably intimate experience to A Promise or La Forxc3xaat in noise form, I would personally recommend Wish for Skin, Uboa, Jason Crumer and Dave Phillips. Some of Sutcliffe Jxc3xbcgend's later work also taps into similar emotional territory, particularly the quieter tracks on Relentless.
Also, if anyone here is curious to understand how and why Xiu Xiu are classified as "noise," Knife Play is maybe their most obviously abrasive, but I'm personally more a fan of La Forxc3xaat, which has some interesting George Crumb vibes, and The Air Force, which rides this fine line between whimsical and grotesque.

Re: noise that sounds like xiu xiu?

Thanks for the new to me music.
Please post some video music links in MISC with your descriptions thoughts similar artists and so on for discussion and appreciation.
There are some threads already in MISC but feel free to start one for your favorite genre band group artist...
I'm isolated somewhat out of touch and also like knowing what non noise sounds people like us listen to.
Why you like it is important.
Anyhow just a rambling thought I had...
