Blank tape compilation __________

Post by diurnalburdens »

"Nothing has an unlikely quality. It is heavy."
Jeanette Winterson

SG00 __________ by Various Artists

Out today on c40 cassette or name your price download on my label Steep Gloss.

The 10 artists were asked to submit an audio piece, with a duration of no more than 4 minutes, utilising blank tapes as the sole sound source. The pieces were then combined, top-to-tail, exquisite corpse style, to create a gestalt, resulting in the two distinct side long pieces presented here.

Featuring works by Turmeric Acid, Matt Atkins, Modelbau, Phil Maguire, Richard Garet, Diurnal Burdens, Chemiefaserwerk, Rovellasca, Georges Concrete and Andrew Sharpley.

Inspired at all by Reynols' Blank Tapes album?
Even if you took a few years and learned all the chords you'd still have a limited number of options. If you ignore the chords your options are infinite and you can master guitar playing in one day. - David Fair

Yes, in part. As well as Richard Garet's 60' on Helen Scarsdale and Phil Maguire's Empty Damage, hence inviting them to submit to the compilation.

As far as I'm aware, no-one else has done such a compilation. I'm happy to be corrected though. In fact, I'd love to hear it, if another one exists!
