Why I love Flesh Vomit

This type of music tends to challenge the distinction that is made in conventional musical practices between musical and non-musical sound.

Why I love Flesh Vomit

Post by Phogmasheeen »

We had a performance at the Beatnik Lounge recently that included Imperial California’s own, Flesh Vomit.
In the course of the performance it occurred to me that this was like a horror movie soundtrack that was so good, YOU DIDN’T NEED THE MOVIE! The creepy vibe, the suspense, the little noises and then the Money Shot and then slow pan on the gore. It was all there. You did not need the visual. The timing was so good that it flowed in a seamless and theatrical way. I dug the set, it was epic. But that is clearly not the end of the story.

You can buy access to Flesh Vomits whole catalog on Bandcamp for $7.00. So I did, it is a very different/scary/exciting experience to walk the dog while listing to Flesh Vomit. It re-casts the whole neighborhood in black and white, and makes the event an entirely gothic experience.

But wait, there’s more! Flesh Vomit’s output is not just tracks on Bandcamp. There are limited edition CD’s with covers that are stunning, evocative, and beautiful! As well as instruments to add to your noise arsenal.

As always, these are my opinions and your milage may vary. If any of this sounds half-interesting to you, the reader. I think you will be well rewarded if you check it out.

Not a team player. Doesn't take unsolicited advice. Otherwise charming...

Thanks for the recommendation, just listening to Cacophony and it's perfect "Tump Clump" radio fodder. Will grab some sounds to support at my next opportunity.
