Current fleeting interests too

Post by ¾ dead »

I'm wicked into chunky vintage Indiana, carnival, vaseline, etc. glass right now. It's a weird love, hate and nostalgia-fueled thing that I sometimes come back to after watching too much Antiques Roadshow. It's so cheap and trashy, but also really "groovy", with some cool colors and finishes. It makes me feel like I'm right there in the modern ruins of the Swinging Sixities. All style, no substance. But what a style it is!

I like things like that...the uranium oxide ones are great...I have a bowl and one or two furniture leg casters in that green.

I love glass...paperweights are a favorite.

On the fine art glass front I picked this up today for $1

Sitcoms are something I'm really I to right now.

Would like to get a copy of that. I've been watching another decorative/art glass buuque on ebay for a while, but haven't pulled the trigger. Still haven't bought any chunky mid-century glass either... I just can't justify it right now when I have no fucking place to put any of it. I choose to just do all the decorating in my imagination for now.

Speaking of which, I need this fucking lamp. Like, two years ago: https://www.ebay.com/itm/YB5020-Mademoi ... 4021263254

eBay does this pressure-pitch thing now where they offer special "seller discounts" (which I assume aren't real, it's just eBay eating the cost in order to get people to buy stuff). That deliciously insane lamp could be mine fore JUST $373.46 for the next 15 hours! I could even afford it if the seller accepts a direct transfer from my savings account (I've got a low line of credit, y'all. I can't buy shit but gas and groceries with my credit card). But where the hell would I put it? How am I ever going to afford my own home/shitty cracker box apartment if I keep spending money on records and lamps and pressed glass and corn-shaped dildos and gay porn LaserDiscs?

I've also come back to my Gig "pity kitty/puppy" preoccupation: https://www.ebay.com/itm/PITY-KITTY-FRA ... 3952463478
Still haven't purchased anything. What's worse, I'm also really excited about Louis Wain and K Chin prints at the moment. I'm looking at so much fucking bullshit I can't do anything with on Etsy/eBay right now. K Chin is phenomenal, unironically. Fuck "kitsch". Fuck "irony". Fuck never expressing anything beyond jaded, know-it-all cunt cynicism. I fucking hate some people.

That was my initial guess too.

If not that, maybe some kind of hair "fork" for putting your hair up. I dunno what those are called, but there's a lot of various styles of them, which all have two prongs.

Perfect for hanging!:

That is a pretty candle holder, too.

A "Random Interior Decorating" thread might be worthwhile. I honestly forget what a load of random shit I have stuck to my ceiling and walls. It all seems normal by now.

Haha. That's exactly how I refer to it. I keep it over my bed, where my head lays. It took a little bit of getting used to.

Probably not really fleeting but I have expanded my collecting of things made of cast iron.

Ill keep an eye out for ya...

I've been buying up Levi brand recently...just ones that fit me.
Fucked up and bleached a couple pair.
They looked stupid so I'm working on getting them a good color...might dye them black

Oh and cowboy shirts. Been buying them when I see them.
