my great aunt has the same form of dementia that he did, it is really sad watching someone regress. She is like a meek lamb now, doesn't recognise anyone ever her full time carer (husband). Barely leaves the house, medication has stopped her being aggressive at least.

sorry to hear that. my grandfather had dementia, and he was unable to hold a conversation, for sure. but his personality remained more or less in tact. peaceful, solitary... it was more like "oh it was funny today he said" rather than "he tried to beat up the care worker again".

i read a ts eliot poem for his funeral, last year. he was a cool guy, and i see him in -- the better -- parts of me.
