Tomorrows Cthulhu was just ok...atomic age Cthulhu was really good.

The black wings of Cthulhu series is a good short story series

I also got a couple redneck Cthulhu and small town Cthulhu short story collections.
Really I went nuts and downloaded 50 or more (near 100 actually...lol) books.

Here.

We have a large Mennonite and Amish community where I live.
This was a good accessible read.
They aren't against technology just technology that creates problems...greed envy sloth pride and such.

They dont like phones because when they first got phones 120 years ago it caused problems with people spreading lies and gossip...
Sound familiar?

Yeahbutyeahbut...the difference is say like between Bernie in a chair going viral in less than 12 hours in 2021 and say Bernie in a chair gag segment in a mad magazine issue 1971....one moves way faster than the other

The phone just made it way too easy for busy bodies to get busy...and in a strict/fanatical religious communal type community it was destructive.

Yes idiots are gonna idiot but no reason to make it easy for them.

No social media on phones for dumbasses.
They should have to sit down with a computer at home to be dumbasses.

Victor Pelevin
sci-fi, drugs, buddhism, dark humor, fantasy, everything hi-grade and politically incorrect best possible way!
i've been reading all his works in original russian since beginning of this century, not my native language, but you could't live without it in Soviet Union, so i speak it since 5 years age freely, and it has been incredible luck actually. can't recommend his books enough. zlibrary offers everything that is translated from russian. the translations are not bad, but please note that much of wordplays are impossible to translate, so some fun will be missed, but it doesn't affect the stories in general. some elements could be hard to understand without the experience of living in late USSR and the enthropy of 90s in Postsovietia. i hope more of his works will be translated soon.
please not that Babylon and Homo Zapiens is the same book, originally named Generation P. this and one of his other most ''pop'' book Empire V are made into movies. first one years ago, will post it in movies thread soon. the latter is finished and coming in nearest months hopefully.
my absolute favorite is Buddhas Little Finger, originally Chapaev and the Void, red it 4x and going 5th soon. it has been made into movie as well , but please do not watch it, there are maybe 10 minutes vaguely resembling the book, everything else is bad and absolutely miserably unconnected with original story.
it is better to start with older works - Omon Ra, Life of Insects.
for those who wants to jump straight into sex drugs and violence - S.N.U.F.F. (written years before war in Ukraine, prophetically dealing with the topic)
