since I hit 40, I've just been feeling I'm waiting to die. dunno why, and it's manageable, but it feels really inauthentic and passive.

just waiting to die
I suppose that's a natural outcome of investing in things that aren't happening.

dunno what can get better, probably nothing ever will

Start volunteering your time to help with community causes. Even an hour a week can give you a huge mental and physical uplift, and gives you a sense of purpose. You will also meet people who live nearby (and I know this can also occasionally be a bad thing)

Turn up for something that interests you, just once, and see how it goes.

yeah. incremental changes to improve negative symptoms... it's a shame you can't get monthly therapy for a few years, rather than weekly for a few months

Volunteering is my therapy. It's free and has all sorts of positive impacts on my life. Not all of it has been great, but mostly the satisfaction of doing something with other people then there being a positive outcome at the end of the session is worth its weight in gold.

And the times I turn up and don't feel like doing much. Well, nobody judges. I turned up and did a bit, which is better than nothing.

Aside from laughing and joking and trying to be as positive as possible at work(when not cussing stupid fucking ignorant shit that lazy fucks do) I get to help people.

Helped an 84 year-old Korean and Vietnam war vet today. He told me about all his bothers and sisters that died in thier 90s and how his wife died!
...he has crawl up and down the stairs on his hands and knees.
He was really appreciative of my help.

I attract crazy people and old folks and they love telling me stuff. Random 10+ minute conversations are not uncommon. Most are pretty cool some are nutty as hell and a few are really sad.

Luke...take STs advice. You're smart talented and not near as bad off as you LIKE to think.
Helping people write poetry would be really amazing or just helping/encouraging them to write anything would be so great.

there was a guy queuing for the bus with his head against the wall, as if crying... inflation?

can't decide if my life is impoverished or just difficult. depends on how you look at it.
