Sweet! Are you planning on installing a hex pickup and going the restoration to OEM route, or using the guitar as a platform to build in a different direction?

The GK-1 GM-70 combo I recently picked up utilizes the same type of 24 pin rectangular connector that appears to be standard issue in the GR-300 family. Here's the current state of my installation (I find the hex a lot more responsive to my needs positioned closer to the neck than typical installations).

When in doubt, add resistance.

I'm going back OEM but loading it with Duncans.
These 303s are very solid guitars made by Fugigen.
Not Hoshino or Ibanez.

I've spent way too much money and done too many
lop-sided trades on guitar synths over the years and
the GR-700 is all I have left. GR-300 is still my favorite
sounding. I couldn't swing the money for a Systems 360
with Oberheims and wouldn't for the Arp Avatar.
(The Octave Plateau Voyetra still haunts me.)

Th GR-700 is a very capable system but it has been
idle a long time so why not get it ready for the inevitable
with a re-cap and service.

I saw Pat Metheny in October of 1983 with his Synclavier.
System cost and associated guitar work was around $250K.
To play a sample of Stevie Wonder's harmonica.

I do admire the 2 string approach.

I wonder how much faster the 13 pin DIN is over the MIDI that the GM-70 natively outputs. It would be an interesting thing if the two translation systems are running in parallel. Shipping from France though, WOOF. That's a very clean install for a possibly useful modification. I'll leave mine stock for now.

It would be cool if Roland released a complete rainbow of these block logo 1U units, but I've not seen a yellow, red, or purple block sadly.

Well, I've got to have a back-up in case a string breaks. (j/k - I need to replace the nut so I only strung two old strings so I could align the pick-up).
When in doubt, add resistance.
