[[File:No 60.JPG]]

'''Herd William''' is an experimental musician from the Salem/Keizer/Woodburn/ and Portland areas of Oregon, USA created by William K. Herd jr. Recording started in September 2008 with aspirations to create a kvlt black metal[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_metal] project inspired by artists in Les Légions Noires[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_L%C3%A9gions_Noires]. The project name was originally named Herd but due to the U.K. Band The Herd[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Herd_%28UK_band%29], William was added. Artist Herd William is currently unsigned.

== History ==
            '''Early years'''
After several other experimental music adventures, mainly all A-Capella, proved to be unsatisfying, William started practicing with a child's toy keyboard.
First recordings were to be featured on a split album with skullthrone[http://www.reverbnation.com/skullthrone] and a collaboration with Local musician Mormo[https://myspace.com/mormotheband/video/the-birds/100470737] but the recordings were unsuccessful due to equipment failures.

            '''Bass Beginnings'''
After several changes in locations and buying an electric Drive Wildfire Bass Guitar on Craigslist (the kvltest noise bass ever known.) Herd William thought it was time to start recording. He thought wrong. Thus began a painful series of failures in the life of Herd William. Taking tabs from other bassists he admired, Herd William recorded song after recording each ending up trash.

            '''Guitar addition'''
He trudged on in the name of art. Buying a Dean EVO 6 string guitar he decided it would be better to have guitar and bass on his recordings, but not having any knowledge of playing either and not being able to play them at the same time he would play them separately.

'''Collaboration with Holy Filament and Damaged Decayed'''
Finding a common interest in music and admiring his work Herd William asked to collaborate with Holy Filament on an upcoming V/A release Arkham Asylum II by Feral Fang. They worked on one track together but the album would never be published so Herd William put it on his bandcamp page.
Meeting artist Damaged Decayed[http://damageddecayed.com/] through a Craigslist ad their ideas of where they wanting to go were very different but Herd William wanted to show him what it might sound like. Only using his bass, he put some ambient bass sounds into some tracks and although Damage Decayed did like the sound, they never worked out.

            '''Bass Drum'''
A friend of Herd William said he should add drums to his recordings, so getting back on Craigslist, Herd William bought a bass drum. Recording a couple of songs they just did not sound like Herd William wanted. Only keeping the ones that he thought sounded the best he kept them for a future release.

            '''Borrowed instrument'''
Unsatisfied with the sound of the Dean Evo Herd William sold the guitar and borrowed an Ibanez Gio from a coworker to find a better sound. Recording more songs they just did not sound like Herd William wanted. Only keeping the ones that he thought sounded the best he put them with the tracks with the Dean Evo and called it a "Best of" album.

            '''Faster, Slower and The Deleted'''
Finally finding a guitar he liked Herd William bought a BC Rich Mocking Bird from Guitar Center. At first he wanted to record fast songs and published a 4 song E.P. of DSBM but reveiws were not strong and quite critical. Unsatasified, the album was deleted forever, and Herd William decided to stick with the slower sound he had been working with before.

            '''Melancholic Mourning and Feedbacker'''
Looking to do more with DSBM, Herd William contacted an already successful artist of Smile[http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Smile/3540349148]. Herd William was to do the guitars and bass. All vocals, sound and publishing were to be handled by Callum. Nine songs were created for the project including two EPIC songs with lengths of 12-24 hrs long! Callum only wanted five of the nine including the 12 hour epic, the others Herd William recorded his voice on and put on a file transfer website. After working on the five tracks Callum called it quits to work on his solo projects and with other musicians.
Wanting more noise Herd William recorded feedback from a microphone setting too close to his amplifier and recorded more DSBM inspired music.

            '''Live Shows'''
Needing more from this project Herd William started playing live improvisational shows with other musicians,
mainly finding all other artists on Craigslist.

            '''Noise and Drums (again)'''
Aquiring a homemade noise maker Herd William was able to add his own noise to his recordings and after a trade he was able to add acoustic drums to new recordings.

Herd William is currently spiraling the drain of hopeful liesas he desperately clings to any sense of artistry.

Artist is currently unsigned.

== History ==

== History ==
            '''Early years'''
After several other experimental music adventures, mainly all A-Capella, proved to be unsatisfying, William started practicing with a child's toy keyboard.
First recordings were to feature Herd William collaborating with Local musician Mormo[https://myspace.com/mormotheband/video/the-birds/100470737] and skullthrone[http://www.reverbnation.com/skullthrone] but the recordings were unsuccessful due to equipment failures.

Taking tabs from other bassists he admired recording after recording were trashed.

They worked one one track together but the album would never be published so Herd William put it on his bandcamp page.
Meeting artist Damaged Decayed[http://damageddecayed.com/] through a Craigslist ad their ideas of where they wanting to go were very different but Herd William wanted to show him what it might sound like. Only using his bass, he put some ambient bass into some tracks and although Damage Decayed did like the sound they never worked out.

Only keeping the ones that he thought sounded the best he put them with the records with the Dean Evo and called it a "Best of" album.

Herd William was to do the guitars and bass, and all vocals, sound and publishing were to be handled by Callum.

Herd William is currently spiraling the drain of hopeful liesas he desperately clings to any sense of artistry.
