== Bio ==
After years playing in alt/punk bands in the thriving 80s Vancouver music scene (using various aliases), Phil also began to explore other more experimental veins, including a brief stint as a power-tool player in the noise band Glob. His experiments mostly stayed as private noodlings until he discovered the ''Earth 2'' album (by Earth). X-Bax was formed, primarily as a solo vehicle, but often with the assistance of other players, to marry his noisier experimentation with this newly-found drone aesthetic. After the release of ''In Search of the Brown Note'', Phil was asked to participate in the formative stages of Chord, a conceptual group based in Chicago that deals with texture and ambiance in the context of unrelenting drone. After Phil moved to Los Angeles in 2010, he found more time to devote the evolution of X-Bax and other projects as well as an ongoing participation in Chord.
