Briefing

Completely Gone Recordings is a California-based experimental music label and audio / visual studio that was founded in 1988, by the American musician, artist, writer and engineer Josh McCurdy (aka Kosmik Leprechaun). It originally operated under the name Hot Damn! Tapes and released around 30 homemade cassettes, as well as a few CDr's, on a localized level, until 2005. All of these early releases were recorded, mixed and produced by Josh with his old peers.

The label's name was switched to Completely Gone Recordings when it began operating online, in 2006. At that point, it began working with artists from all over the world, as well as reaching a massive new audience, via The Internet Archive. CGR eventually relocated to Bandcamp in 2016, and then merged with the Dutch noise label Takkeherrie Recordings, in 2018 (originally founded by Ruben de Haan, in 2006). Takkaherrie has kindly reissued many early CGR titles since then. Approximately 400 individual releases have been published by Completely Gone Recordings, in total.
