Mortua Nix is an experimental Harsh Noise/Ambient project who has released 2 full-length albums and 3 EPs. It is stated to be derived from Gorenoise and Ambient music. Their style relies heavily on pitch-shifted acoustic guitar, vocals, and more recently, piano/keyboard. The project began in early 2016 when the first tracks were made, but did not yet have definitive titles, nor did Mortua Nix have a name.

The first release, "Nekrosphobos", is a short EP of 6 tracks, the first three titled "Nekros One", "Nekros Two", and "Nekros Three", while similarly, the final three tracks are labeled "Phobos One", "Phobos Two", and "Phobos Three". The Bandcamp page description states "A short EP of harsh, non-melodic noise.", though "Nekros Three" is actually somewhat melodic. "Nekrosphobos" was supposedly created in one night from one audio file split into 6 distinct sections.

"The Martyr Complex" was the first full-length release and is comprised of 14 tracks ranging from 10 seconds to 24 minutes in length. This album was recorded before "Nekrosphobos", but released 3 days after the EP, on July 8th. It contains Mortua Nix's earliest material and is their longest release, clocking in at 52 minutes (38 minutes of which are Filled by the two longest tracks Mortua Nix has released to date: "Phantasmal Energy (Spacetime Being Ripped Apart)" and "The End Is Nigh").

5 days after "The Martyr Complex", another EP titled "False Deity" was released on July 13th. False Deity Is, once again very short and has 6 tracks. It s seen to be in a very similar style as the previous EP and is even stated on Bandcamp "An EP made directly after 'Nekrosphobos'."

On July 25th, the second album, "Blood Libel" was released. This marked a stylistic difference in Mortua Nix's previous work by the incorporation on piano/keyboard. The album is made up of 14 tracks and runs 30 minutes in length. The main section of the album, a set of four ambient tracks called "Cicada", totals all but 8 minutes of the album's entire length. One track in particular, "Ego Sum Falso Deo" (which is Latin for "I Am a False God") is a blatant reference to the "False Deity" EP and features similar acoustic guitar sounds as the title track on the EP. This is the only release that Mortua Nix has had a physical release for: a unprofessionally printed cassette limited to 9 numbered copies.

September 3rd marks the release of "Time Has Run Out", an EP made of 5 tracks running 14 minutes. It is based around a track titled "All That Is Heard Before Time Runs Out". The Bandcamp description is as follows: 'All That Is Heard...' was the seventh Mortua Nix track ever made. It was made, in a way, to look back on what I had previously done and samples very small sections of the six tracks made before it (all of which are on the first album, 'The Martyr Complex') However, this track also served as the basis for my longest track, 'Phantasmal Energy (Spacetime Being Ripped Apart)', though, only a small amount of 'All That Is Heard...' was used in the longer piece. As such, I do not consider "All That Is Heard..." a demo to "Phantasmal Energy". I bring it to you in its original form: a retrospect as well as a track in itself. 'Blight' was a track made for the second album, 'Blood Libel', but was never used." The EP is book-ended by two tracks titled "Snow" (Pts. 1 and 2 respectively): the first of which is a small piano ballad accompanied by a background of noise. The second "Snow" track is this ballad continued, but lacks the background noise.

Mortua Nix have also planned split releases with the DSBM project "Abandoned By Light", the Dark Ambient project "Mork Sjel", as well as the notable Gorenoise artist "Phyllomedusa", but the status of whether or not the split with "Phyllomedusa" is currently in question.

The artist behind Mortua Nix is named Elias Addison, born on 11/19/1997.
